If We Were Having Coffee…

Graphic Novels

Adult life is such a whirlwind that sometimes just sitting down with a nice hot drink and having a catch up is exactly what is needed.  I’ve seen posts like this done by a number of bloggers I love, and it seems like a great way of sharing all those updates I’ve been so excited about.  So, pull up a chair, grab a coffee (or, more realistically, a hot chocolate if you’re me) and let’s see what’s new.

If we were having coffee… I would admit to playing an awful lot of Northgard lately.  It has similaries to Age of Empires and Civilization, so just about all of my gaming hours so far in June have been poured into it.  Addicted?  Maybe a little…

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I wish I had as much time to game and read as I used to.  I remember my Mum saying when I was in my teens: “You’ll never have as much free time as you do now.” I think I finally get what she was talking about.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you how thrilled I am to finally be reading Caitlin Doughty’s From Here to Eternity.  I have a friend who works in the funeral industry, and his experiences, plus Caitlin Doughty’s progressive ideas, have really made me feel differently (more positively) about The End.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I booked an entire day off work so that I could enjoy a long weekend of Games Done Quick with some of my best nerd friends.  There will be pizza, pyjamas and lots and lots of games (of course).

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I was headhunted at work for a managerial role in another town!  I know I’ve been working hard, but validation from a senior manager feels amazing.

If we were having coffee… I would show off the five graphic novels I bought recently.  Working more means more money for books, but less time for actually reading them… a true conundrum.  Even so, I’ve been enjoying Volume 1 of I Hate Fairyland, and it’s far better than I initially gave it credit for (I had initially bought it based off a recommendation, and was unsure if it would be my kind of read).  So, I’ve been pleasantly surprised!  The juxtaposition of the cute with the gory is really cool.

If we were having coffee… I would say that I can’t get enough of the amazing blogs I have discovered this year.  Current favourite is Dorkface, who I actually have an advertising package with this month (exciting stuff!).  You can check her out here.

If we were having coffee… I would say that right now life is pretty great.  In a few years I’ll be calling these times the ‘good ol’ days’.

What would you say if we were having coffee?
