I’ve sure been slacking on my book features these last few weeks! My last First Lines Fridays on this blog was over four weeks ago; hopefully it’ll make today’s feature extra special…
- Pick a book off your shelf (or your current read) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
I opened my eyes.
To dark. Black as arctic winter.
Am I dead?
I happen to think these are some of the most exciting first lines I’ve posted to date. Read on to find out which book this extract is from…
206 Bones by Kathy Reichs
When Dr Temperance Brennan is accused of mishandling the autopsy of a missing heiress, a routine case swiftly turns sinister. But before Tempe can get to the one man with the information she needs, he turns up dead.
Have you read this book? Have you ever chosen to read a book based purely on an extract, nothing more? Share your experiences!
