First Lines Friday: 20th November

I’ve sure been slacking on my book features these last few weeks!  My last First Lines Fridays on this blog was over four weeks ago; hopefully it’ll make today’s feature extra special…

The rules:

  • Pick a book off your shelf (or your current read) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

Cold.
Numb.
Confused.
I opened my eyes.
To dark. Black as arctic winter.
Am I dead?

I happen to think these are some of the most exciting first lines I’ve posted to date.  Read on to find out which book this extract is from…

That is an interesting opening to a book. I want to know more about it. I haven’t read any of the Temperance Brennan novels, but I have read her YA Virals series, and I’m pretty sure they have really interesting opening lines, too. I just can’t remember any of them right now.

Thanks for stopping by Writing on a Vintage Typewriter!

I haven’t read any either – this one has been on my TBR for a while! I haven’t heard of the Virals series, so I’ll have to check that out. I am familiar with the characters from the Bones TV series, and judging by this opening, the books should be just as good!

      Thanks for your comment! 🙂
